The iPhone has a lot of features that make it unique compared to other smartphones on the market. And that’s why so many people love their iPhones.
“…99% of people love their iPhone…” - Apple.
So wouldn’t it make sense if Apple brought some of those very features to their line of Macs? I mean, it’s not like Apple doesn’t take chances and daredevil leaps when releasing new products (ahem, I’m looking at you 2015 MacBook). So why not build in some of that uniqueness from the iPhone into the Mac? Well, here at MBEDDED, we’re all for that! Below is a list of the top 3 features from the iPhone we’d like to see the Mac adopt some day.

1. Siri
Ah yes, Siri. Apple’s personal, digital assistant found on many iPhones and even iPads. But not on their Macs. Microsoft has it’s own personal assistant named Cortana, which can be found on Windows Mobile phones and now in Windows 10, which, by the way, is available for desktops, including iMacs and Mac Pros, tablets, phones, and laptops, including MacBooks. You can activate Cortana using your voice and tell her to set a reminder, search for something online, ask about the weather, etc. So why wouldn’t Apple take another jab at Bill Gates & Co. and just include their personal assistant which, in my opinion, is better than Cortana, in their Macs? It’s unclear at this time why they didn’t include Siri in the latest version of OS X, El Capitan, but Apple has their reasons and blah blah blah. But nonetheless, it would’ve been really nice to see this on the Mac. And hopefully one day Apple will take a leap of faith and just pop it in an OS X update.
2. Touch ID
Considering Apple is bonkers about security, you’d expect them to include some kind of fingerprint reader on their lineup of computers for an easy and secure way to keep them safe, right? Wrong! There have been rumors that Apple is planning on building in Touch ID into their Macs, and it would do the Mac wonders, like make it a super easy way to buy an item online, purchase music through iTunes, or unlock your Mac, but it hasn’t happened yet. And hopefully one day it will.
3. Touch Screen
Okay, so this feature isn’t so unique to iPhone, but in 2007 it was! A lot of people were hoping that Apple would include a touch sensitive display in their new Macs this year during the Spring event, but that never showed. Other manufacturers are already doing this, such as Microsoft and Google with their Chromebooks. And it’s not like they just started this year. They’ve been doing it for a few years now. But, as we’ve seen in the past, it takes Apple a little while to step up their game and give us timely specs and features. And that’s probably the reason the new 2015 MacBooks doesn't have a touch display. But if they did, we’d all be very happy campers.

Of course there’s always the possibility that Apple will never include any of these features in their Macs, but at the current rate of evolving tech, they’re gonna basically have to in order for customers to come back to them. But heck, they’re Apple. They could give us a flip phone and we’d begin to drool. So for now, this is just a little wishful thinking.
