New Update to the official MBEDDED Android App Available Now!

We've released an updated version of MBEDDED for Android! This build comes with the version number being 1.1.1. This update mainly focuses on bug fixes and performance improvements. We have, however, added a Twitter feed to the app so you can keep up to date on all of our tweets right in the app. In addition, we've added a link to our official website in the Navigation Drawer for quick access.

You can download the update for your Android device by downloading the APK at the link below. Amazon Fire users can download the update from the Amazon App Store, also linked below.

First tvOS Update Pushed to Apple TV 4's Everywhere

Apple today has pushed the first update to tvOS which is available on the 4th-gneration Apple TV. This update, 9.0.1, most likely just includes bug fixes and performance enhancements, with this statement being an assumption as the company didn't include release notes with this update.

The new 9.0.1 update can be downloaded over-the-air through the Settings app on the Apple TV by going to System --> Software Update.

tvOS 9.0.1 comes as Apple is testing the first major update to the operating system, tvOS 9.1. Apple has thus far seeded one beta of tvOS 9.1 to developers, with release notes for that beta pointing towards improvements to networking and scrolling. tvOS 9.1 also appears to include support for Siri search for Apple Music.

Any noticeable changes found in the OS will be listed here as part of updates.

iPad Pro to Come Later than Expected?

According to everything we've heard so far about the upcoming iPad Pro, we've come to expect the release date of being November 11th. But sources close to Cult of Mac and Apple's plans say otherwise. Apparently, Apple will debut their plus-sized tablet to the market on Friday the 13th.

However it's only a two day wait from the November 11th rumored release date, it would make sense for Apple to release the iPad Pro at this later date, considering their past history of releasing new products.

Apple staff members have already had their training for the iPad Pro, meaning they're ready to answer any questions you may have about the new 12.9 inch iPad.

These sources belonging to Cult of Mac didn't mention accessories such as the Smart Keyboard or Apple Pencil, but we can expect them to launch alongside the new iPad Pro on Friday the 13th.

The iPad Pro will start at $799 for the 32GB WiFI only model, while options for 128GB and LTE models are available also and will sell for a maximum price of $1,079. In addition to its 12.9-inch display, the new iPad boasts an A9X chip, 8MP rear camera, HD FaceTime camera, four speaker audio, and 10 hours of battery life.

iOS 9.2, OS X 10.11.2 Beta 2 Rolls Out w/ AT&T WiFi Calling Enabled for Mac & Other Devices

Apple has pushed new public betas of both iOS 9.2 and OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 to public beta testers, just two days after the release to developers.

iOS 9.2 beta 2 includes built-in support for AT&T NumberSync technology, alongside the other fixes and improvements found in beta 1's release notes. Mac Rumors reports on that:

According to the release notes for the first iOS 9.2 beta, the Safari View Controller (the view of Safari you see within apps) is being updated with support for third-party Action Extensions that will let it more closely mirror the Safari app. It also includes options to reload content and request a desktop site, as in Safari, and iOS 9.2 beta 2 improves Safari View Controller further, introducing support for dismissing it with an edge swipe.

Public beta testers can download the latest build by going to Settings > General > Software Update on their registered iOS device.

Apple has also release the second beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.2 to the public. This release doesn't include any outward facing changes, but there are most likely bug fixes throughout the system. One difference you will notice is the fact that this beta includes support for AT&T NumberSync technology to be used with your iOS 9.2 beta 2 iPhone.

Apple has notified developers and the public to pay attention to Graphics, Wi-Fi, Calendar, USB, Notes, Photos, and Spotlight as they are all getting the most improvements.

Public beta testers can download this build by going to the "Updates" tab within the Mac App Store.

First tvOS 9.1 Beta Released

Following today's iOS 9.2 and OS X 10.11.2 beta 2 releases, Apple has seeded developers with the first beta version of the next software update for the company's newest Apple TV, just a few days after it became available to the public.

The beta, labeled tvOS 9.1, is available for download via the developer center, much like iOS and OS X betas have been seeded. The release notes for tvOS 9.1 indicate improvements coming to WiFi network compatibility, in-app-purchases for App Store apps, and improved scrolling. This update needs to be downloaded to a computer and then installed to the set-top-box via a USB Type-C cable.

iOS 9.2, OS X 10.11.2 Beta 2 Now Available to Devs

Apple has officially released the second beta of iOS 9.2 to developers today. iOS 9.2 beta 2 follows the initial iOS 9.2 beta release just one week ago. The update is available over-the-air through the Settings app for developers already testing the release. The prior release contained few changes including extension support on Safari View Controller. The release notes only highlight bug fixes and improvements.

This beta continues to improve Apple's new Safari View Controller, which will allow users to open web pages inside applications using full-blown Safari. The second beta adds a swipe gesture for dismissing the window that was previously absent. Developers including Tapbots for Tweetbot previously had to create workarounds for this behavior.

The update is available to registered developers via Settings > General > Software Update.

Developers have also received the second beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.2. The latest El Capitan beta continues to focus on Graphics, Mail, Wi-Fi, Calendar, USB, Notes, Photos, and Spotlight.

Developers can download the latest build by visiting the Mac App Store in the "Updates" tab.

Apple Has a Secret App You'd Never Even Know Existed on the App Store

Apparently, Apple has an application available on the App Store for iOS titled "Indoor Survey" which can help pinpoint locations inside a store, restaurant or other business that connects to Apple Maps – but it doesn’t show up in a search, and you need to register in Apple Maps Connect to download it.

By dropping “points” on a map within the Survey App, you indicate your position within the venue as you walk through. As you do so, the indoor Survey App measures the radio frequency (RF) signal data and combines it with an iPhone’s sensor data. The end result is indoor positioning without the need to install special hardware…

Pretty cool, right?

This information is coming from a tweet by Steve Stroughton-Smith who noticed the app on his iOS device while in the App Store.

9to5Mac has shared more details about the secret treasure hidden under our noses:

the app is intended for use by businesses using the Apple Maps Connect service, which allows them to add and edit entries appearing in Apple Maps. Apple Maps entries cover everything from gas stations to stores, restaurants and hotels.

The idea would be that, once you walk into a store, for example, Apple Maps would be able to direct you to the section or department you need.

The app may well have been developed using technology created WiFiSLAM, a company Apple acquired back in 2013. The tech uses WiFI signals to track the location of smartphones within buildings, and is a good match for the functionality described by Indoor Survey.
