OS X El Capitan Public Beta 5 Half-Way Out?

Today, Apple has seeded public beta testers with beta 5 of OS X El Capitan. The update comes as build number 15A262c.


This beta mainly comes with bug fixes and tweaks to the overall system in preparation for it's launch this Fall.


As of the time of this post, most users running the public beta of El Capitan can't download beta 5 due to Apple pulling it from the "Updates" tab in the App Store. Follow MBEDDED on Twitter to be notified when you are able to download it.

However, some users were in fact able to download the update just in time before Apple pulled it from it's servers. Mac Rumors has been able to discover 3 new changes made to the OS in the latest build.

The first noticeable change is the Safari splash screen. When you launch Safari for the first time in the new update, this screen will appear showcasing some of Safari's top features like "Pin a site".

The second change worth pointing out is the updated About This Mac panel. As you can see, the OS X logo has been updated with the colors of El Capitan rather than just a gray X in the middle.

The third change requires some digging, but once you get there, you'll notice that in Accessibility settings, there's a check box to toggle on or off "Shake mouse pointer to locate", which, if moved vigorously, will increase the size of the mouse pointer on your screen, making it easier to spot in a crowded desktop.
